Paul Legallet III Jan 5 th , 1937-August 9 th , 2023 Paul passed away peacefully on August 9, 2023, after a wonderful evening in Lake Tahoe celebrating his 65 th wedding anniversary with his wife Sharon. Born on January 5, 1937, in Alameda California, Paul was the son of Paul Legallet Jr. and Jean Dobbins Legallet. He spent his early years in San Mateo and Watsonville, CA. He began working at the Legallet Tanning and Wool Company as a teen. He graduated from Bellarmine High in San Jose in 1954 and entered Santa Clara University. In 1955, he attended Westdeutsche Tanning School in Reutlingen, Germany for one year. He subsequently attended the University of Oregon and met Sharon. After marrying, he graduated from the Univerity of San Francisco in 1959. Paul continued to work in the family business and became a managing partner with his brother Joe and cousins, Jok and Jon. He was a passionate and skilled leather technician who devoted himself to the family business until its closure in 1979 when he launched his own leather goods manufacturing business, Golden Gate Glove Company, which he grew successfully and managed until his retirement in 2010. His work sent him all over the world, sparking a love for all foods and cultures, especially French cheeses, and shaping his global perspective and tolerance. Paul was a dedicated husband, father, and friend. He loved nothing more than hosting and cooking for celebrations at the family home. He was a barbeque master and continued to perfect his chili recipe through the years. If family or friends needed a place to stay or live, Paul and Sharon welcomed them into their home. Our hearts are filled with his unconditional love along with memories of the twinkle in his eye, his humor, silly jokes and stories, warm and ready laugh, and many acts of kindness and generosity. He was selfless, and an eager listener, making each person feel special with his active presence in their lives. His union with Sharon defines the true meaning of everlasting love. In his retirement, Paul dedicated his time to his children and grandchildren. He traveled the world with Sharon and tended to his garden. He was on the board of the family property business, found time to serve many meals at St Anthony’s, and volunteered in daughter Lynne’s kindergarten classroom in San Francisco. He was an accomplished domino player, challenging all-comers and teaching his children and grandchildren to play. He had many adventures traveling, hiking, boating, and fishing with his good friend Gordy. More recently he enjoyed camaraderie at the Peninsula Roundtable and the banter with his new friends over breakfast at the Versailles in San Mateo. Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon, daughters Anne and Lynne, son Chris, daughter-in-law, Marie, sons-in-law Dale, Scott, and Chris, and grandchildren Elaina, Genna, Elise, Shannon, Brigitte, Nate, Paul, Luke, Devon, Kyra, and Kai. He will also be greatly missed by Henri, his sweet canine companion. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jenny, brother, Joe, cousin, Jon, and brother-in-law, John. He leaves behind sisters, Nan, Maria, Theresa, Louise, Linda and sister-in-law, Susan, and cousins, Jok, Suzanne, and Lana. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews and numerous special friends. We will miss him dearly but take comfort that he is now with his beloved daughter, Jenny.
