John William Havranek Jr. May 3, 1947- January 26, 2022 HAVRANEK, John W. Jr. of San Jose, CA formerly of Cambridge, MA passed on January 26, 2022 at the age of 74. He is survived by two sisters, Joanne Walcott & her husband Geno Walcott of Woburn, Massachusetts, and Janice Goodman of Randolph, Massachusetts. In addition, he leaves behind three nieces and nephews, and five great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, John W. Havranek Sr. and his mother, Shirley E. (Kelman) Havranek. As a youngster, John had excellent grades, played the accordion, and was very active on his swim team. He also played water polo, and enjoyed water skiing and boating. He graduated from Cambridge High and Latin in Cambridge, Massachusetts and went on to receive a degree in engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He was always interested in motorcycles, cars, and racing. He was most passionate about snow skiing. He was an avid skier and even went to Europe to hit their slopes. After moving to California, where he made his home, he became known as the legendary Missile to his circle of friends in the Squaw Valley Ski Community. He loved chute 75! John always had strong opinions, a sarcastic sense of humor, and enjoyed playing little pranks on friends. He was loved and will truly be missed by both his family and friends.
