Sheri Higbee
June 1, 1942 - February 26, 2022
Sheri 'Amora' Higbee died February 26,2022 at the age of 79, she was a cancer warrior who put up a valiant fight for 7 years. Sheri was born in Oakland Ca. and spent her first 30 years living all around the bay area, she became a resident of Truckee in the 1970's after visiting on a family vacation. She and her then husband loved the area so much they left San Rafael and opened La Vielle Maison restaurant in what is now the River Street Inn/1882 Bar & Grill. After retiring from the restaurant she worked at the Truckee Chamber of Commerce and volunteered at the Tahoe Forest Hospice Gift & Thrift. She loved her town and was a vocal participant at several of the town counsel meetings, she was also a member of the local lioness club. Sheri is remembered by her friends and family as being outspoken, opinionated, fiery and the holder of many grudges. She was known to tell people in her last few years that she wasn't planning to die any time soon because she had to many people left to annoy...even while her little body was wasting away she was full of attitude. Sheri is survived by her daughter Rhonda, grandson Nicholas, granddaughter Charlotte and great-granddaughter Liliana, we didn't get the chance to tell her she will be a great-grandmother again in September - she will be missed.
